In memory of DEACON JOSIAH HAYNES who died in Freedom's Cause ye 19th of April, 1775 in the 79th Year of his Age.

Sarah was born in Sudbury, MA on October 31, 1718 to Jonathan and Sarah Smith, the oldest of the their three children whose births are recorded in the town. She married Nathaniel Rice, also of Sudbury, on November 24, 1737. They had one child, a daughter named Sarah, on September 3, 1738. Sarah the mother died on January 4, 1740/1. Her daughter died three weeks later. They lie side by side in the Revolutionary War Cemetery in Sudbury, MA.
