This is a favorite books to bring with me when I'm visiting cemeteries, and I highly recommend it for both beginner and experienced cemetery wanderers.
I think my fost favorite thing about this book is how accessible it is. The book is organized into bite-sized sections that are written to give an overview of the content without being too wordy. There are clear pictures on almost every page that help us readers navigate and see exactly what the author is explaining.
Each section has a scavenger hunt table at the end that just begs to be filled out. There are even checklists with things to check off when you find them and pages at the end for notes. My Capricorn brain loves a good challenge!
If you're not into scavenger hunts or checklists, there is a section with researched stories about a few individuals in the author's local burying grounds. At the end are tips and tricks to help you research the permanent residents of your own local cemeteries.
Also included within the pages is information on various gravestone symbols and fraternal organizations. It's pretty much everything a cemetery sleuth could want!
