Samuel and Mary Bigelow

Samuel was born in Watertown, MA on October 28, 1653 to John and Mary (Warren) Bigelow, the fifth of their 13 children. John and Mary have the first marriage recorded in Watertown. He was a carpenter by trade, the town constable (tax collector) in Watertown, and an inn keeper, to name but a few of his public offices.


On June 3, 1684 Samuel married Mary Flagg of Watertown. They had ten children, all of whom lived to adulthood.


Mary was born in Watertown, MA on January 14, 1657 to Thomas and Mary (Underwood) Flagg. She was the 9th of their 12 children.


In early 1720 Samuel and Mary moved to Waltham (just one town over) to live with their son Thomas. Mary died there on September 7, 1720. Samuel died on February 1st, 1731/2.


They rest together in Grove Hill Cemetery in Waltham.


Mary's gravestone was carved by Caleb Lamson. Samuel's may also have been carved by Caleb Lamson, or by one of his brothers.
