Susanna was born in Bolton, MA to Josiah and Persis (Baker) Sawyer on November 19, 1781, the second child of that marriage. She had four older siblings from her father’s first marriage to Bathsheba Moor, and would have several others from his third to Prudence Johnson. I haven’t been able to locate where or when Susannah’s mother died—it isn’t recorded in Bolton or Berlin—but it was before 1786 when he married Prudence Johnson.
On October 3, 1803 she married Caleb Houghton in Berlin, MA. They were both residents of that town. Caleb and Susannah had five children: Cyrus, Persis, George B., William Addison, and Amory B.
Susanna died in Berlin on August 30, 1818 at the age 36 and was laid to rest in the Old Burying Ground.
After Susanna's death Caleb married Abigail Merriam and they had three children. Only their oldest, Lewis, would live past childhood. Caleb died in 1823.
